Now listen. Faith is like oxygen. It keeps you afloat at all times. Sometimes you need it. Sometimes you don’t. but when you do need it you better be practiced at having faith, otherwise it won’t work. That’s why the missionaries built all the churches. Before we got those churches we weren’t practicing enough. That’s what prayers are for–practice, children. Practice. Lloyd Jones
About This Quote

The idea of faith is closely tied to the idea of prayer. Perhaps that is why many people equate faith with prayer. When you pray, you are seeking God’s help in some matter or another. When you have faith in what you are doing, you do not need to be asking God for his help.

Instead, you are taking full responsibility for your actions and dealing with the consequences. A simple example of this would be when a child gets an assignment to write an essay or do a project. The child may not know how to complete the work but they do not bother asking for help from their parents, instead they practice writing up until they are able to complete the task.

Faith is the same way. A person does not need to ask for prayer when it comes to faith, instead he or she needs to practice until they become proficient in having faith.
